About

Laurel Lodge Environmental Group is a community group established in July 2020 by two local friends Pamela and Anne.

Our thinking was to provide people with the proper equipment to safely pick up litter at a time when everybody was being extra cautious during Covid.

LLEG was an immediate success and membership grew quickly.  Because of social distancing rules, our members adopted their own litter picking routes close to their homes and we have followed that model for litter picking ever since.

“I love how the group has expanded from litter picking to have a general biodiversity and environmental focus.”

Our Mission

From the start our mission has been the general improvement, enrichment and development of the environment of Laurel Lodge and its surrounding areas.

Our two cornerstone projects are our regular litter picking activities and the maintenance of Laurel Lodge Community Garden at Castleknock Community Centre.

Over the last 5 years we have expanded our ideas to include lots of other environmental projects and initiatives that enhance Laurel Lodge’s appearance and biodiversity.

We also team up with Fingal County Council, other local groups and local businesses, believing in the power of partnership built along common goals.
